Gadget Of The Week-Samsung ST100
September 6th
No comments
Samsung Electronics made quite a splash with its DualView cameras some time ago, and has recently expanded its family of DualView devices with another two models – we’re talking about the 14.2-megapixel ST600 and ST100. Both models aim to continue where the successful TL225 and TL220 left off, delivering a stylish design, a full-range of smart and easy-to-use features, as well as Samsung’s now famous and revolutionary dual LCD technology. The ST600 and ST100 will be the new flagship models for the DualView camera family, where both of them have received an upgrade to the front LCD displays that can be activated using a mere tap. Its LCD display size has also increased to 1.8″ compared to its predecessor’s 1.5″ display.
The Samsung ST600 will come in a purple shade, while the ST100 will be pink in color as seen above. Both of them will come encased in a slim and sleek compact frame complete with a metallic finish that will definitely help you stand out from the crowd. You will find a high-quality Schneider KREUZNACH lens on both models, where it supports Optical and Digital Image Stabilization which will help you snap blur-free images under most conditions. The ST600 will sport a powerful 27mm wide-angle focal length with a 5x optical zoom, while the ST100 boasts the virtue of being the first Samsung DualView digital camera that will come with an internal, 5x optical zoom which helps keep the design chic and small with a 35mm focal-length.
Apart from that, the new ST600 and ST100 will come with Samsung’s Smart Auto (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology, letting you take out the guesswork when it comes to snapping a great looking photo or video. Smart Auto (Still & Movie) will analyze key elements of the composition, ranging from color to brightness, motion and subject, while picking out the appropriate scene mode which will produce the best results. A self-portrait mode and couples mode also comes in handy, where the latter requires two faces tilted toward each other before it snaps a photo. Both models will hit the market this September, with the ST600 and ST100 retailing for $329.99 and $349.99, respectively.

Sony has further expanded its family of Cyber-shot digital still cameras with two more models, namely the DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5, making them the smallest 3D cameras in the world being full well capable of capturing 3D images with a single lens system using nothing but a sweeping motion. This means making your own 3D panorama shots are easier than ever before, where it is all made possible thanks to a high-speed burst of frames which is then stitched together using innovative processing techniques, resulting in an automatically created detail-packed 3D panorama. Of course, you can always choose to enjoy these images in mere 2D, or in stunning 3D as long as you own a compatible 3D television. This would mean a larger initial outlay since you will also require 3D-compatible HDMI cables and 3D glasses, where all of these are sold separately.
Both the DSC-TX9 that comes with a 3.5″ 921k resolution LCD touchscreen display and the DSC-WX5 that sports a 2.8″ LCD display lets you view images in a whole new way. With Sweep Multi Angle, you are able to view images moving in simulated 3D right on the cameras’ LCD display simply by tilting the camera back and forth. This new shooting feature will then capture 15 images at different angles, compiling them into a single photo to create a 3D-like effect on the display. Pretty neat – who would have thought that technology would have advanced at such a pace that off of these are now possible.
Not only that, the 12.2-megapixel TX9 and WX5 models will also come with new features such as Background Defocus that will simulate depth of field control and Superior Auto mode, offering low image-noise levels which were previously only available from DSLR cameras. You can also record your favorite memories down in full HD video thanks to the AVCHD format which is normally used in Sony’s high-definition Handycam camcorders. Other features include Optical SteadyShot image stabilization to help overcome camera shake, and the ability to choose between the Memory Stick PRO Duo and class 4 and above SD/SDHC memory card formats offer unprecedented flexibility. The TX9 will retail for $400, while the T99 and WX5 are going for $250 and $300, respectively.

THIS IS THE PART OF THE BLOG WHERE I SCHOOL YOU ON SOME REAL HIP HOP! THIS WEEK WE HAVE LITTLE BROTHER ON DECK! REMEMBER EVERY ARTIST OR GROUP THAT I PUT YOU ON IS AN INFLUENCE OVER MY OR QWESTIONS MUSIC.
Part of the new-millennium resurgence of alternative rap, Little Brother's inspirations were atypical for Southern hip-hop: classic Native Tongues outfits like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest, as well as more recent torch-bearers like the Roots and Black Star. MCs Phonte (born Phonte Coleman) and Big Pooh (born Thomas Jones) swapped rhymes with an easy chemistry, but the group's real focal point was DJ/producer 9th Wonder (born Pat Douthit), an old-school sampling technician who quickly established himself as a worthy heir to production wizards like DJ Premier and Pete Rock. Little Brother formed at North Carolina Central University, located in Durham. All three members had known each other since 1998, when they performed in a local hip-hop outfit called the Organization; after its dissolution in 2000, they spearheaded a 12-member crew dubbed the Justus League. The trio worked together off and on in varying combinations, until they officially teamed up as Little Brother in August 2001, adopting the name as a humble nod to their influences. Their first recording together was "Speed," a playful, down-to-earth look at the pressures of holding a day job while trying to make it in the music business; it set the tone for much of their early material. Over the next few months, they developed enough of a repertoire to start performing live around the area, and quickly earned a following. When the group made its music available for download on the Internet, a substantial buzz built far outside of North Carolina, and it eventually earned them a deal with the Oakland-based ABB Records in 2002. In early 2003, Little Brother released its full-length debut, The Listening, which won widespread critical praise that focused especially on 9th Wonder's production. The buzz helped him earn a raft of high-profile outside gigs, including tracks on a pair of multi-platinum releases: The Black Album by Jay-Z and Destiny Fulfilled by Destiny's Child. Little Brother leapt to a major label (along with ABB) in 2005 for The Minstrel Show. In January 2007, as the group was finishing up their next release, Getback, it was announced that Little Brother had left Atlantic and that 9th Wonder had amicably left Little Brother. Gadget Of The Week-Melodyhorn Air Powered Synth

Do you have a penchant for making music? You might be interested then in picking up the Melodyhorn Air Powered Synth, but don’t be fooled by it being made out of plastic. After all, being plastic doesn’t mean it won’t work as well as a metal piece of instrument, but then again it might just be a whole lot less longer lasting than one made out of the solid stuff. Just what is the $29.99 Melodyhorn Air Powered Synth, you ask? Well, it is a brand of melodica, featuring keys of a piano, although you play it in a similar manner to that of a woodwind instrument, making it polyphonic like a keyboard or a harmonica. Haven’t heard of the melodica branch of instruments? Well, you might just be a wee bit surprised to know that the following artists have featured a melodica instrument in their albums or live shows before, and we’re talking about Ben Folds, Faith No More, Oasis, Depeche Mode, The String Cheese Incident, Cake, Cyndi Lauper, Indigo Girls, Herbie Hancock, and even The Beatles.
